Meet us Monday night at Schiller Park

We’re going to get together tomorrow (Monday) at 7:00 p.m. at Schiller Park in Columbus, Ohio.  Please meet us at the foot of the statue of Johann Schiller.

I’m not exactly sure what the meeting will be about, but it’s important that you should be there.  I know that the meeting will be in regards to a community that shares common ideas.

The community will simply be a sum of its parts.

Maybe you’ll come to the meeting because you’re interested in experimenting with a new kind of Christian community which tries to eliminate waste and hierarchy.

Maybe you’ll come because you’re interested in living in a community with other people, sharing resources.

Maybe you’ll come because you think that as individual households we use too many natural resources and produce too much trash, and you think a community household could be more reasonable.

Perhaps you’ll come because you’d like to find a group of people that enjoy reading websites as much as you do.

Perhaps, and I hope this is the biggest reason, you’d simply like to expand your friend group.

The meeting won’t last long, I don’t think.  It’s really not up to me, but I would guess about 20 or 30 minutes.  I think it will be worth your time.

The mystery here is not cleverness, I honestly don’t know what will come of this.

But I think it will have something to do with people who want to love Jesus wholeheartedly and have a desire to live as some sort of a community where we can share resources, eliminate waste and practice our love in the lives of our neighbors.

We’re putting together a new kind of community.  This isn’t some sort of creepy cult, but instead a loose association of motivated individuals who share common ideas.

Please meet us Monday night at 7:00 p.m. (August 25) at the feet of Johann Schiller in Schiller Park.  If you don’t know where the park is then go to maps.google.com and type in Schiller Park, Columbus, Ohio.

I hope to see you there.  If no one else shows up then Melissa and I will have our own meeting, just the two of us.  We’ve got lots of practice at that.  grin

I wish you could be there too.

I’ve been getting the reading question a lot lately.  I’ll have to think about what’s been influencing me and how.

Honestly, I read a lot of fiction.

That’s great! Tell me what fiction you’ve been reading. I’m always looking for new good fiction to read. Here’s my list of favorites, all well worth checking out of you aren’t familiar with them:

Don Delillo - White Noise is the single best fiction book I’ve ever read.
George Saunders - A short story genuis. Buy Pastoralia today if you can.
Philip K. Dick - I have a weakness for science fiction.
Jorge Luis Borges - Holy crap. Nobody has ever been more wildly creative than this man. My goal is to be able to read his work in spanish (the original language) in 5 years.
