Short Answers: Why Are You Here?
We’re tutoring at an international boarding school. The students have repeatedly asked “so why are you here”?
Theories range from us being the new proctors (RAs), some sort of missionaries, new chaplains, new teachers or new custodians.
It’s a good question, one that I don’t really have a good answer for. But I thought trying to answer it could help some of our newer readers too.
Earlier this year I worked as a web person at a TV station in Columbus and Melissa managed a coffee shop.
In February we quit our jobs, sold everything that we owned and left town in a pink campervan.
Two weeks later that van broke down… twice. So, long story short, we switched to a 2003 Chevy Cavalier.
So, now we live in, or out of, our car and travel from place to place seeking adventure and a place to sleep, all the while pretending that we’re out here to help people.
That brings us to Kingsville, Texas where we not only receive a nice place to sleep and three meals per day, but also get some sensation of helping people.
During the day, I build the school a new website and Melissa tries to look busy. By night, we tutor students in English, math, etc.
Why do we live in a car? Because it makes more sense to us than living in a house.
That’s why we’re here, in Kingsville, Texas living at the Presbyterian Pan American School.
