Update on the House—March 9, 2009
We had the house inspected last week and it went really well.
He pretty much told us everything we already knew.
Being no plumbing, electricity or appliances, it was a pretty quick inspection. The foundation looks pretty good, but the roof will need some work. The furnace is very new, but the HVAC will still need a lot of attention. There’s not much hope for the water heater.
We’re supposed to close by March 20th. Now we’re just waiting for the seller to take care of the title work.
Once we take possession we won’t be able to move in right away. We need to run plumbing to one bathroom and electricity to a small portion of the downstairs before we can stay there, as well as a few other minor improvements like real doors, deadbolts and outdoor lights.
We’re estimating that it will take about $2,200 to get it to a condition in which we can move in.
Please pray that everything continues to go as smoothly as it has so far.

Good job, little brother. I don’t know a damn thing about fixing houses, but I can be told what to do and carry stuff. Whatever I can offer is yours.
On second thought, let Sara or me know when and I’ll send the girls over. Cheap labor....
