We’re really trying hard to put things in forward motion now.

We feel like God is definitely pushing us in one direction, and now we’re taking the steps to make that happen.

I don’t know how plainly we’ve stated things before, but here goes:

We feel like God wants us to buy a big house in the inner city.  A bunch of people would live in this house and help the neighborhood, not as a philanthropic organization, but simply as a group of humans who love their neighbors and have a genuine desire to help others.

We just want to be loving people, not an organization.  We want to live in a house where we can try a new kind of Christian community.  A community committed to eliminating waste, both spiritual, bureaucratic, and physical (trash, water, energy, etc.), and following the literal method of the community in the book of Acts.

That’s the direction we feel God calling us.  So now we need you to pray hard for us as we take big, faithful steps to make that happen.

We believe that the house will be a bright spot in the community.  We believe it will be a place that fulfills all kinds of needs, from giving the neighborhood a space and the tools to grow their own produce to providing a place for kids to go after school to hang out, get help with schooling, and stay out of trouble.

These are just two, the possibilities are endless.

Please pray that we can find the right house.  We have a couple specifically in mind now.  Please pray that we have a good sense of our capabilities as far as rehabilitating the house and don’t bite off more than we can chew.

Please pray that the funds will be available when we need them.  We’re committed to staying debt free, which means that we absolutely, fundamentally refuse to borrow money.  We believe that if God wants us to do this thing, then he will provide the money to make it happen.

As you think and pray and meditate, please let us know your thoughts.  Please send us e-mails even if you think your ideas are silly or stupid.  You know that we love non-conventional things.

We’re here to make this happen, please pray that we do it the right way, the way God has designed for it to be done, and that we don’t heedlessly pursue our own desires in the name of what seems right and good to us.

Hopefully through prayer, what seems good to us and God’s perfect direction will be the same thing.
