Brad and I share everything.
Some may think, duh, of course they share everything, they’re married.
But I think we share more than the average couple.
We share a tent, two sleeping bags zipped together (no queen sized bed here), one fork, and a Chevy Cavalier.
Living quarters are cramped. Good thing we like each other.
If we get food out somewhere, say a fast food restaurant, we almost always split something.
When we got to coffee shops to use the Internet we always split a drink.
And it isn’t because we think it’s cute to split the fries.
It just seems wasteful and expensive for us to both eat the extra large humongo meal, when in reality we don’t need that much food and half of it will probably go to waste.
I notice food waste a lot more now than I used to.
I used to be the biggest food waster of them all. A picky eater who threw half of my meal into the garbage just because I didn’t like it.
I don’t really have that choice now. I am grateful for whatever we have and generally try not to waste any of it.
Sometimes we’ll be at a restaurant and I’ll see people throwing away trays with lots of food left on it. You know, entirely full cartons of french fries.
Meanwhile Brad and I are over there sharing value burgers and one small fry and I’m thinking “hey bring those over here, I’ll finish them”.
It’s funny how much changes when you give up extra resources.
How much food do you waste?
How much extra food do you eat because you don’t want it to go to waste?
We’re eliminating waste because we don’t have any money.
Think about the amazing things we could do if we all followed the same principle.
