The wind has driven us from another campsite.

This one was worse.  We were camping on the beach at Elephant Butte State Park.

Not only did our tent stakes do diddly squat in the beach sand, but there wasn’t a large rock to be found.

The evening was great.  Very calm, clear skies, beautiful stars, beautiful reservoir.

Then the wind came.

It was about 9: 30 when we finally decided we’d better cut our losses and head out.

I started taking things to the car while Melissa kept the tent in place.  After we had removed almost everything, I was walking to the car when I looked back and saw that the tent had completely rolled over with Melissa inside.

Nonetheless, we got the tent down and everything packed up.  You know you’re good when you can break camp in 15 minutes in 30 mph winds.

So we slept in the car again.  Paying to get into the campground was a waste, but it was only $8.

This morning we’re back on the road again.  Headed for San Diego and the RED BULL AIR RACE.  Woot woot.
