The forecast called for rain all day but as Brad and I were sitting on the couch in our jammies talking I told him I could see a sliver of blue in the sky. A few minutes later I reported that the sliver was now a large hole. It ended up being a beautifully sunny day, albeit very windy.
It’s the time of year in which we all realize how much the weather affects our mood, right? I like to think I don’t have seasonal depression but a moody gray day mixed into some gorgeous warmer spring days and I’m a heap on the couch again (not really, but I might feel like it).
So it was good to have the sunshine today.
Brad wanted to take some of my grandpa’s coins into town to sell and I needed to get some more clothes for Theo before vacation (he’s growing!) so Brad dropped the girls and Theo and I at Gabe’s and went to Coin Mart.
The girls immediately got mad that I wasn’t there for them, and Theo proceeded to wander around with no interest in looking for clothes. If only I could always have the girl’s enthusiasm when I take the boys shopping. We eventually found a couple pairs of shorts and t-shirts, and we also found Brad, $100 richer and a few old coins lighter.
We went to the hottest club in town, Sam’s, for lunch. I really don’t like eating there, but everyone else does and it costs us like $13 to feed a family of 8. I’ll take that.
I choked down my hot dog, and before I knew it the boys were back up in line to get icees and ice cream for everyone. This was after they had already split sodas with their pizza.
There was a time when I would have been enraged, and there is absolutely still a part of me that cringes at the amount of high fructose corn syrup and food dye they ingested today, but I also know it’s not worth an argument. Brad gets to parent them the way he wants to, and that often is through all the junk that mom doesn’t allow.
They loved it. I tolerated it and didn’t have to prepare or clean up lunch. Win.
