The first day of February.

The first day of The Company.

While we officially resigned from the School of Kingdom writers a few weeks ago, today is the day we introduced The Company to the world.

As I was taking a shower last night the lyrics from Closing Time kept running through my mind: Every new beginning comes from some other beginnings end.

I feel like that’s precisely what’s happening here. The School of Kingdom Writers was good, so good, but as we’ve grown God began showing us that he had something new and greater for us if we were willing to take a risk. Changing a non profit status and a name is no easy feat, and when we first began discussing it it seemed nearly impossible.

But here we are. It’s happening. And not only is it happening, but it’s going really well.

We have both been amazed at the favor God has placed upon this process. Our supporters have been just that, supportive. We’ve had so many conversations with people over the past few months and I can only count one person who did not have a positive reaction.

This morning I got up a little early, but not too early because sleep is precious these days. I was hoping to get a head start on some of the social media name switching and logo uploading before the kids got up but that didn’t really happen. It was nice to share a cup o’ joe with Brad before he got off to work, though.

I spent time on and off uploading new pictures and trying to figure out the best social media handles for each site. The kids could feel an excitement in the air and some of them seemed to want a day off from their schoolwork because of it. Maybe it should be a holiday, though. The day God blessed us and The Company. That’s a big deal.

It’s never too late to change direction. And the funny thing is, we aren’t even really changing direction. We’re doing the exact same thing with a new name and a new business structure. We are lighter, freer, and filled up with and even greater desire to see God’s Kingdom poured out through the writers we’re training.

Writers change the world, indeed.
