To the unobserving, part one

Do you recognize
Those few times a year
In which the fans are off
The heater is still
The temperature is near perfect
And you can just hear
Or hear not
The stillness in the house
The voices in the street
The dogs in the distance?
Do you notice the peepers in the spring
Give way to the cicadas and tree frogs in late summer?
Do you see the flowers that change in the ditches along the road?
Pink and purple fade to white
Then brighten to orange and yellow.
Do you notice the fireflies
that twinkle early

wane by late July?
Do you see the look of an August morning
and know those foggy, dewy days only come but once a year?
Or remember that the long light

that shines in February windows is unique too?
There is an order to the world
A time and season for all
Do you see it?
